Specialty animal fibres

Whilst the primary business of Wool Testing Services is to sample and test wool samples, we also have significant involvement in the measurement of other specialty animal fibres, such as, but not limited to:

• Alpaca
• Cashmere
• Mohair
• Possum
• Other rare fibres: Escorial, guanaco, camel, yak, etc

SGS has a wide range of expertise, instrumentation and experience which allows us to carry out both routine testing and individual investigations tailored to client needs.  This facility extends from individual animal measurements to raw fibre, processed fibre, yarn, knitwear and woven fabric, right through to finished garments.

Wool Testing Services has particular expertise and experience in fibre type characterisation and differentiation, and has assisted a number of New Zealand companies to bring new fibre products to market.

An order form for submitting samples for fleece testing can be downloaded here.  If you are submitting the samples from overseas, you must also attach a copy of the current MAF Biosecurity permit which should be placed in a transparent envelope on the outside of the package.
